The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization that promotes the responsible management of the worldís forests. FSC is a certification system that provides internationally recognized standard setting, trademark assurance and accreditation service to companies, organizations, and communities interested in responsible forestry. J.B. Kenehan is committed to the values supported by FSC and provides its customers the ability to produce printed materials promoting these social and environmental standards. Printing the FSC trademark logo on publications that are produced on FSC paper demonstrates the companyís commitment to responsible practices.

American Soybean Association:
J.B. Kenehan belongs to the American Soybean Association. In the printing process J.B. Kenehan uses soy inks. The decision to convert to soy inks was driven by our commitment to participate in an environmentally friendly, sustainable, renewable resource. As a soy ink user we have the ability to provide to our customers the use of the ASA Soy Ink Seal on their printed pieces. Featuring the soy seal on publications enables our customers to highlight their dedication to producing an environmentally responsible product.

Manufacturing Processes
J.B. Kenehan offers water-based aqueous coating to protect your printed piece. This process provides a gloss, dull, or satin finish that is friendlier to the environment than the industry standard process of UV coating and film lamination. J.B. Kenehan is focused on reducing manufacturing waste throughout the entire printing process. All the press equipment has state of the art preset, register and color controls that minimize press make ready and run waste. Focusing on waste reduction in the manufacturing process helps fulfill our environmental goals and offers our customers cost saving efficiencies.

Recycling Efforts
J.B. Kenehan implements various recycling efforts in the manufacturing process and the day to day operation of running a business. Our managers and employees share responsibility to recycle and seek out methods to achieve environmental goals. J.B. Kenehan utilizes vendors that promote and assist in achieving the same ideals. J.B. Kenehan purchases remanufactured pallets and skids as well as the recycling of all waste skids. All stock cartons used in packing customer products are made from recycled material. Waste paper is sourced out to be recycled as are the used metal plates used in the printing process. Throughout the facility recycling of office paper, bottles, cans, light bulbs, machinery and various materials is part of the business process.

Energy Usage
J.B. Kenehan made the commitment to invest in replacing outdated lighting in the manufacturing facility with high efficiency ballasts and lamps. J.B. Kenehan partnered with the State of Wisconsinís business program, ìFocus On Energyî. The bulbs and lamps increase brightness and has substantially reduced our lighting electrical usage by 50%. By converting to high performing ballasts and lamps, J.B. Kenehan will reduce air pollution and energy usage at the local electric power plant.

Facility Management
All press emissions are monitored and tested to remain in compliance with environmental protection agreements and the department of natural resources. Our property and buildings are surrounded by trees and bushes with 33% green space. Complying with these agencies J.B. Kenehan provides a cleaner, healthier business to our community, and customers.
